About nasty words

This actually sounds more like a defense for speech policing. If even nasty words do harm, doesn't that provide ammunition to those who want to use the state to protect people from "hate" speech. It does not, it seems also to speak about "harsh words" (i.e. directly attacking a person with words), not "hate speech" (bad-mouthing some, most likely absent, group of people). I don't know the intricacies of that position, maybe you can check how other authors consider profanity and verbal attacks?
