Honoré de Balzac

Honoré de Balzac was a French author whose multi-volume collection of novels, La Comédie humaine, focused on the intersection between love and money. He mocked and criticized the bureaucratic mentality in his books, through characters such as M. Poiret, the civil servant in Le Père Goriot. In fact, he wrote an entire book, Les Employes, whose title translates as The Bureaucrats.
