Gary Johnson is former governor of New Mexico and U.S. Libertarian Party candidate in the 2012 U.S. Presidential election. His slogan, "The People's President," has been criticized for its Marxist overtones. However, it could be regarded as purposefully ironic, much like the practice of referring to Libertarian Party official Bill Redpath as "Comrade Bill." While serving as governor, Johnson unsuccessfully pushed for cannabis reform. He predicts that cannabis will be legalized by 2016.[1]
