Retribution

Retribution is the dispensing or receiving of reward or punishment according to the deserts of the individual. In punishment theory, it refers to depriving a criminal of certain rights based on the nature of the offense.

Murray N. Rothbard suggested a theory of proportional punishment, "that people may be punished by losing their rights to the extent that they have invaded the rights of others," and defended it as a retributive theory of punishment.[1]
