I agree with Jeffrey that the prospect of this idea (developing structure for meetups) is fantastic.  With all the messages just now arriving in my inbox based on this topic, it is already hitting a nerve.

Living in the namesake city of the dreaded [[Chicago School]] (ack!), I could stand to meet an Austrian or two--better yet, 100!  I might even study a little.  I need to hang with people who think clearly, and this would be the place for that! Revision as of 03:37, 25 November 2010

First day

Joined the Mises Wiki today, November 20, 2010. I have been editing over on Wikipedia since April of 2004 and have made nearly 2000 edits there. I have been trying to better manage my time making Wikipedia edits, as it can pull one in if one is not careful.

But now that there is a wiki for classical-liberal thought and all that that entails, I may never be heard from again! Unless, of course, it's here on the Mises Wiki.  :)

Welcome to all, newbies and old hands!

On the just-today-developing "Mises Meetup" phenom

[excerpted from the Mises Wiki mailing list] I agree with Jeffrey that the prospect of this idea (developing structure for meetups) is fantastic. With all the messages just now arriving in my inbox based on this topic, it is already hitting a nerve.

Living in the namesake city of the dreaded Chicago School (ack!), I could stand to meet an Austrian or two--better yet, 100! I might even study a little. I need to hang with people who think clearly, and this would be the place for that! Throw in a martini and, well, see you soon. (heh)

Oh, sorry (slightly off-topic [for the mailing list]): My name is Ray Birks, and I live in Chicago and started reading Murray's stuff in 1976 just after graduating from Bucknell University. Thanks to all here who are getting things rolling even further.
