The Austrian Economics Wiki is a free-content repository. Unless otherwise noted, its material is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. Contributors may not specify an alternate license; all original contributions are released under it.

Three layers apply, because this wiki is a fork of an older one.

Contributions from 2010 to 2014

This wiki's corpus began as the Mises Wiki, which released all original contributions under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported license. That grant is what makes this fork lawful, and it is why the page histories were imported intact rather than flattened: attribution is a condition of the license, and every revision here carries the username that made it.

Attribution-only licenses impose no obligation that Attribution 4.0 removes, so restating the site default at 4.0 takes nothing from anyone who contributed under 3.0. Those revisions also remain available under Attribution 3.0 in their own right, from the history of the page they appear on.

Text derived from Wikipedia

Text copied from Wikipedia is a separate case and is not covered by the license above. It is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported, which requires that derivative works carry the same license. A ShareAlike license may be upgraded to a later ShareAlike version; it may never be converted to a plain Attribution license.

Pages carrying such text are tagged with {{Wikipedia text}}, which prints the notice and the source article on the page itself and files it in Category:Mises Wiki articles incorporating text from Wikipedia. As of August 2026 that covers 88 articles and 231 templates. If you reuse one of those pages, reuse it under Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0.

Reusing material from this wiki

Attribution 4.0 asks for reasonable credit, a link to the license, and an indication of whether you changed anything.
