Ideology can be defined as a somewhat comprehensive and coherent set of beliefs which guide the social views and relations of individuals.[1] An ideology motivates one's action in society toward a set of goals or objectives which within the confines of the ideology are viewed as desirable. As contrasted to a world view, an ideology is a narrower concept in that it does not necessarily include views on such things as metaphysics, religious dogma, or the natural sciences.[2] Examples of ideologies include communism, fascism, libertarianism, and statism.
